What is Makou Magazine?
Born out of COVID isolation in 2020, Makou Magazine is an online magazine championing Iraqi art, architecture and creative heritage. We are dedicated to preserving and celebrating art by Iraqi artists, as well as drawing on Iraq’s pre-modern history and culture.
Through curated articles and stunning visuals, we explore the stories behind artworks and the voices of often overlooked artists, bringing fresh perspectives to the world. Our mission is to bridge past and present, connecting global audiences with the soul of Iraqi art and fostering a deeper appreciation for its enduring legacy.
